The Challenge

The customer just took possession of the home and based on the comments in the home inspection, they determined that the valleys needed to be replaced or repaired at the very least. During the inspection, the Repair Specialist Team confirmed that the valleys needed to be replaced with a closed system. They also found a small section where the downspout had worn away the shingles and softened the wood. While on site they performed a roof tune up.

The Solution

Once the quote was accepted, work began on the valley. The Roofers removed one shingle from the left and right side of the valley to expose the membrane that was installed and cracked. The exposed wood received a layer of ice and water shield installed over top of it to create a seal then new shingles were installed. Two valleys were redone, one on the front upper roof and the second on the lower porch roof.

Additionally, there was the area where the downpipe was located on the left side of the garage that needed to be removed. Approximately 6 shingles were removed to expose the rotted wood. Plywood was replaced and ice and water shield installed. Matching shingles were installed and a downpipe extension was placed to help the longevity of the shingles so they would not further deteriorate from the water rushing onto the roof.
