The Challenge

The Client approached Mr. Roof Repair with concerns about a leak above their window on the back low slope portion of the shingle roof, on their rental property. The leak was first noticed after an ice storm.

The Solution

Mr. Roof Repairs Roofing Specialist (RS) Team determined that there were a couple of issues contributing to the leak.

First, there were multiple layers of shingles installed on the roof. Multiple layers can put a strain on the roof deck and the supports. They can also trap moisture within that area causing premature wood rot.

Second, the back slope of the roof was also installed incorrectly with shingles, instead of a proper low slope roofing material. This does not allow water to run off of the roof as intended and can lead to leaks. It was recommended that the shingles be removed from the low slope portion of the roof, and a flat roof material be installed in it’s place.
